Sunrise Athletics is holding winter track and field registration for students in grades 2-9.

BISA Basketball Clinic is Dec. 9

The Big Island Sports Academy will host a youth basketball clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Panaewa Park Gymnasium in Hilo for girls and boys grades 4-6.

The clinic will cover the basic concepts and all facets of basketball skill development, with an emphasis on fundamentals.

The clinic is being led by Big Island Sports Academy’s John Livsey, and youth basketball coordinator and former UH-Hilo standout Phranklin McKinney.

Registration is ongoing and applications can be obtained at all elementary schools, County of Hawaii Parks and Recreation Centers, or by contacting Livsey at mrjohnlivsey@gmail.com or 365-4831.

Cost is $25 per person.

There will also be onsite registration at 8:30 a.m.

Age-group track meets in Feb.

The Department of Parks and Recreation will hold its annual age group track and field meets for ages 6-14 on Feb. 10 and Feb. 24.

Held at Waiakea’s Ken Yamase Memorial Stadium and Konawaena, field events start at 9 a.m. and track starts at 10:30 a.m.

Schools, clubs or individuals interested in participating in any of the meets should contact Darrell Yamamoto at 961-8735 or 938-2012.

T-ball, coach-pitch meetings

The Department of Parks and Recreation will hold an organizational meeting for T-ball (ages 5-6) and coach-pitch (7-8) at 5 p.m. Dec. 13 at Aunty Sally’s Luau House.

Coaches or team representatives must attend this mandatory meeting to enter a team in the league.

League rules, format and tournament dates will be discussed at this time. The cutoff date is May 1, 2018 to be eligible to play in the league.

Vulcan Baseball Clinic

The Department of Parks and Recreation will hold its annual Waiākea ‘Uka Vulcan Baseball Clinic on Jan. 13.

The free clinic for ages 7-13 runs 9-11:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 8 a.m.

The club’s monthly registered trap shoot was held on November 5th. Participants shot a total of 300 targets in singles, handicap, and doubles events. The highest overall winners were:

The next registered shoot will be held on December 3rd at the County Tray and Skeet Range from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All shotguns, ammunition, and eye and ear protection shall be supplied by each individual participant.

Aikane Tennis will be held from 7-10 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Edith Kanaka’ole Multipurpose Stadium.
